Business Technology Integrators (BTI) is seeking a senior Network Manager to serve as the primary technical authority for the architecture, performance, reliability, and security posture of all networkMaryland™ infrastructure components. This individual will lead all network engineering activities — from backbone architecture design tPosition Overview:hrough production deployment, optimization, and technology modernization — across a complex, multi-site statewide government network environment. This position is On-Site in Greater Annapolis/Crownsville MD.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority for all networkMaryland™ architecture and engineering activities
- Lead the development of backbone routing designs including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and EVPN architectures
- Oversee all network solution deployments — ensuring compliance with technical specifications and change management requirements
- Direct proactive maintenance, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization activities
- Supervise and mentor all FA1 engineering personnel
- Serve as Tier 3 escalation authority for high-impact and technically complex network incidents
- Enforce all network security policies and compliance requirements
- Produce all required engineering deliverables including Network Architecture Diagrams, Implementation Plans, and Strategic Project Summaries
Commitment Level: Full-time dedicated resource with 24x7x365 availability for Priority 1 and Major Incident escalations; available on-site upon DoIT request
Required Qualifications
- ✅ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a directly related discipline from an accredited institution
- ✅ Current, active senior-level network engineering certification at the CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent expert level
- ✅ Minimum ten (10) years of experience designing, implementing, and managing complex, multi-site network infrastructures for government or large enterprise clients
- ✅ Demonstrated experience with large backbone network environments and fiber infrastructure supporting hundreds of locations
- ✅ Proven, production-level expertise in OSPF, BGP, MPLS, EVPN, DWDM/CWDM, and SD-WAN technologies
- ✅ Experience leading network engineering teams and serving as a Tier 3 escalation authority for complex network incidents
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Maryland CJIS clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- 🌟 Direct experience designing and implementing MPLS/EVPN backbone architectures on statewide government networks
- 🌟 Experience with Palo Alto firewall policy management and Panorama administration
- 🌟 Familiarity with IPv6 implementation planning and security segmentation design
- 🌟 Experience with SD-WAN deployment and integration within MPLS backbone environments
- 🌟 Knowledge of OSP/ISP fiber network engineering and DWDM/CWDM optical transport systems
