Business Technology Integrators (BTI) in Upper Marlboro, MD, is looking for a Network/Network Security/Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team on a part-time basis (16-20 hours per week) at our corporate office.

- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders on networking technologies, network security, storage, data in motion, and data at rest security to develop comprehensive technical solutions.
- Design and implement network infrastructure solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring adherence to security requirements and technical standards.
- Participate in the solutioning of networking aspects of AI/ML proposals, ensuring robust and secure data handling throughout the solution. Brainstorming internally on incremental through strategic deployment of the technology. Keeping up to data on advances and newly introduced risks and exposures.
- Optimize solutions for large volumes of data storage, data lakes, and significant data movement while maintaining high security and performance. Recommend implementation and solutions for newly developed, deployed or integrated applications and off the shelf products.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies throughout the solution development process. Monitor upgrades, patches and advancements to ensure strong network and security stances. Provide client plans for the same and provide BTI with policy, plans and monitoring.
- Develop and articulate network-native technical solutions tailored to meet specific customer needs, including compliance with federal security standards and policies.
- Create and maintain templates for proposals and documentation, using them to extract requirements and inform the development of networking and security strategies and technical documentation.
- Create, improve, and communicate processes surrounding network operations, security protocols, and best practices, document the established processes for ongoing reference.
- Maintain and continuously improve existing LAN, WAN, and security solutions.
- Design, implement, and maintain next-generation security solutions, including evaluating, selecting, and implementing best-case technologies.
- Provide telephony solutions for ICaaS (VOIP, cellular networks, and any emerging technologies). Including meetings, messaging and third party integrations.
- Maintain an understanding of emerging technologies, frameworks for network management, data flow, and practices around data security in both physical and cloud environments.
- Help define, then document IT policies for clients as well as BTI operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in various IT disciplines, with a focus on network architecture, network security, and data management.
- Proven experience developing IT solution strategies in collaboration with multiple stakeholders across various projects.
- Strong familiarity with networking principles, security methodologies, and the handling of data in motion and at rest.
- Experience with penetration testing, risk assessment methodologies, and network vulnerability management.
- Experience with data lakes, including the ability to manage and move large volumes of data efficiently and securely.
- Ability to create solution input for proposals in response to customer-provided RFQ/RFI requests and the associated templates necessary to ensure effective communication of requirements and solutioning.
- Deep knowledge of federal security, cloud environments, network policies, and standards is a must.
- Advanced certifications in network security (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or relevant Cisco certifications) are required.
- Proficiency with TCP/IP, sub-netting, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NAT.
- Proficient with IP Routing Protocols (OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, BGP), QoS, Multicast, MPLS.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and analysis throughout the seven-layer OSI reference model.
- Experience with network security design and implementation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate and address complex technical requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a capacity to clearly articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership when required.
- Familiarity with Agile and PMI methodologies, along with an ability to contribute to team dynamics effectively.
